His early occupations were like an apprenticeship to a printer, writing for his brother's newspaper and piloting ships on the Mississippi river. In fact, Mark twain is used as a naval term that means two fathoms deep.

In fact, Mark Twain had always published his earlier works under the pen name of Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass, and then he changed it into the well-known pen name when he worked as reporter for the Nevada and California magazines. He became famous as a humorist with the following works: The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County and Other Sketches (1867) and Innocents Abroad (1869), and started his first English speech tour in the 1872.
