Abstract Outstanding film and television works can reflect the customs of a country or region as well as the ways of thinking and values. The main conflict of the movie Guasha is whether scraping is the traditional Chinese medicine treatment or child abuse and it tells a tear-jerking story, with family affection as its main line, which makes the audience respond strongly. It is also a good example showing the differences between Chinese culture and western culture. This paper analyses a series of movie plots and character dialogues, showing the differences and conflicts between China and the west in values, concept of education, filial piety concept, view on friendship, ways of thinking and cognition of medicine, and then puts forward suggestions for reducing these cultural conflicts through knowing the culture, respecting the culture, learning the language and adapting to cultural persity. In times of globalization, to investigate the differences between Chinese culture and western culture contributes to eliminating misunderstanding and barriers, as well as promoting cultural exchange, which can promote effectively the harmonious development of Chinese and western cultures.

I. Introduction
Culture reflects the history of a country or nation, as well as the traditions, lifestyle, behaviors, ways of thinking and values. Movies have been deeply planted into every culture. Movies are the product of cultures. The movie shows the cultural element which makes the audience understand a nation and encourages people to enlarge the field of vision, challenge themselves, finding that the unity of life and interdependence of all beings. The movie Guasha serves as a good example showing the conflicts between Chinese and western cultures. Briefly speaking, the movie Guasha designs a Sino-US cultural conflict by focusing on the traditional Chinese medicine “scraping”. The conflicts are helpful to expose the existing problems. There are differences and similarities in different cultures. Only through active communication can eventually lead to fusion. Namely, with the rapid development of globalization, fusion of different cultures is the general trend. Cultural exchanges between China and the west are also increasingly frequent. The people of all nations have realized the importance of intercultural communication. However, in the process of mutual communication, every country and nation has its own cultural tradition, values and ways of thinking. It is no doubt that these causes cultural collisions and conflicts. We can foresee that a clash of civilizations will become the greatest threat to world peace. To strengthen cultural communication is beneficial to create a harmonious cultural atmosphere, which plays an important part in international activities.
