Abstract Friends has been one of the most popular American situation comedies in the world since the late twentieth century. It tells us an impressive story of what happened among six friends with a series of humorous and touching stories in New York Manhattan among 10 years. It shows us the unique culture of love and deep friendship between them. Based on the show, the paper makes an analysis of American values towards love and marriage. It also compares the different values in China and America. The paper finds comparative study out that American people tend to have a romantic relationship with their partners,while Chinese tend to build their relationship based on substances. American marriage is the result of love, while the marriage in China is built up based on different considerations. The paper intends that it will strengthen the mutual understanding between those two counties.

I. Introduction
In the memory of Chinese, the United States is an open, free and irresponsible country with a lot of one-night stand, sex crimes and the highest porce rate. People blame on American’s openness After watched the Friends, people have prejudice to Americans.
Friends, also known as six person journey, is the United States famous sitcom hit since the 1990s a with total of 10 season. This show at present is still one of the most popular sitcoms in Europe and the United States .Though from beginning to end, it strictly follows the American sitcom basic rule: every story climax as in the limited time of 20 minutes. In the relaxed and humorous dialogue contains a unique "American" humor, which is simply astounding. The show is humorous, but more importantly, in the constant laughter, it let us see another way of love and marriage treating. Friends virtually become a mirror of everyday life, which allows us to learn life, to enjoy people’s love.
In the Friends, the story of six people firmly attracts the audience, convey the pure attitude to the love of young people. It is about friendship, career twists and turns and the joys and sorrows of life for six young people: Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe in New York city. Friends though a sitcom but it is a situation comedy so it different from all soap operas, reflecting the most ordinary people's life, at the same time reflecting the American marriage values. In this article, surrounding friends views of love and marriage, spouse-selection view and family values, in friends the writer will explore the differences between China and the United States.
