It is not easy to answer what is the Internet。 At present, opinions are widely pided on this topic。 Information technology researchers call it as National Information Infrastructure, but ordinary people understand it as Information Superhighway。 For geeks bubbled in online all day, the Internet is virtual world or cyberspace space for their extension of real life experiences。 

The explanation accepted by people internationally is that the Internet is an information transmission network, which is composed of tens of thousands of connected computer networks and has the features of amorphous form, without borders, and no limit of time and space (Tiller 95)。 It is nearly 30 years since the first appearance for Internet, from the a top secret project in the department of military in the United States to the local area network used to academic exchange at the universities, and then resource-sharing global network used to electronic communication and information。

The Internet, as the mother of all networks, is not the existence of an independent inpidual。 It has neither owners nor controllers as it is a virtual network environment composed by numerous application programs, which have their own unique features。 Internet is the largest database for humans to store their abundant source material。 Internet is actually a multimodal information process; many of its features make English teaching easier and funnier。 It includes high-efficiency, persity, and interactivity。

One of the features is the high-efficiency of Internet。 The Internet provides an abundant language learning environment。 Most of researchers show that the learning process will be more efficient if we use more senses in the study; and if we prefer to ask questions, explore the problems practically, rather than absorb information passively, we can deal with the abstract concepts better from the concrete experience。 As a result, the efficiency of multimedia teaching is embodied in the following aspects: firstly, Internet can greatly expand the capacity of teaching information, and also cannot be confined to traditional information carrier in English listening, speaking, reading and writing。 Secondly, Internet can accelerate the process of information index, display, disposal, which makes people free ourselves from heavy labor in information collection。 It makes the students obtain more useful information in a limited time。来:自[优E尔L论W文W网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-
