Actually, those seemingly illogical and disordered sentences reflect the quick transformation of thoughts of the narrator and build an image of a woman with mental problems。 Given the fact that she went crazy in the end, the description of her psychological language makes sense。

1。2 The Changing Narrative Voice

In the beginning, the narrator disagreed with her husband about her sickness and opinions towards writing, but she gave in right away by whining “what is one to do” for more than once which indicates her inability to change her condition。 She also did not like the room at all, but after John’s persuasion she changed her mind and started to like it。
