Abstract From the perspective of realizing personal value, this thesis tries to do comparative study on The Lord of the Rings and Journey to the West . Through the two heroes, Monkey King and Frodo, we can have a deeply understanding of cognitive difference of images of heroes and different views to realize personal value between China and western countries.71712

The thesis mainly conducts the illustration of how Monkey King and Frodo realize their personal value under their respective backgrounds via their own efforts and others’ help. Different understandings of heroism are also analyzed and compared between the oriental and the western cultural backgrounds combined with the growing experience of the two figures. The thesis first explores on the collectivism complex of Monkey King and the inpidualism complex of Frodo based on a discussion of the relationship between the images of hero and their teams. Then the thesis discusses on the perse requirements of people’s behavior between Chinese moderation and harmonious culture and western humanism by analyzing the different endings of two heroes’ fate.

This thesis studies on Chinese and western heroism from the perspective of realization of personal value not only helping to have a better understanding between oriental and western cultural differences, but also giving a reference to the future researches on heroism.

摘 要本论文尝试从个人价值实现角度入手,对英国作家托尔金的作品《指环王》和中国作家吴承恩的作品《西游记》进行对比分析。通过作品中弗罗多和孙悟空这两个英雄人物，可以更深刻地了解中西方对英雄人物形象的认知差异，以及对实现个人价值的不同看法。

论文重点阐述孙悟空和弗罗多在各自的成长背景下如何通过自己的努力和他人的帮助实现个人价值，并结合中西方不同的文化背景和两个人物的成长经历，从两方面对比分析中西方对英雄zhuyi的不同理解。首先，从英雄人物自身与其团队的关系出发，讨论孙悟空的集体zhuyi情结和弗罗多的个人zhuyi情结。然后，通过分析两个英雄人物的不同命运结局，分析中国的中庸和谐文化与西方人本zhuyi文化对人行为和思想的影响。

本论文从个人价值实现的角度研究中西方对英雄zhuyi的认知差异，有助于更好地了解中西方文化差异，对今后研究英雄zhuyi主题有一定的借鉴和参考意义。
