摘要语言是文化的载体，禁忌语作为语言的一种形式，自然有着其文化意义。受不同文化的熏陶，也就产生了不同形式与内容的禁忌语。禁忌语所涉及到的都是我们日常生活中尽量避免使用的词句，这就规范了人们的日常行为与社会交际。在国际化交流越来越频繁的时代，对其国家的文化和其所蕴含的禁忌语有所来了解，才能更为有效地进行交流与合作。本文旨在通过禁忌语的差异来展现中西方文化的差异。文章中会涉及到禁忌语的来源与社会功能，通过具体的例子来展现不同文化背景下禁忌语的差异。18948

Abstract Taboos, a form of language, have some cultural significance for language is regarded as the carrier of culture. It varies a lot both in form and content under the influence of different cultures. Taboos refer to the words which people won’t apply in normal days. By such way, it regulates people’s behavior and social communication. With more and more frequent intercultural communication, it is essential to acquire the knowledge about taboos for a better effect of interaction. In the paper, it will present the cultural difference in the Chinese and English from taboos and it includes the origin and function, etc. From the concrete example, readers could have a better understanding of the difference on taboos between the Chinese and English caused by different cultural backgrounds.

Language is a social phenomenon and always influenced by various social and cultural factors. It reflects the national culture and mode of thinking, regarded as the embodiment of the culture.
