2。1。2 Study on Interpersonal Meaning in China

The Systemic Functional Grammar was introduced into China in the 1970s, but it was Li Zhanzi (2002) who spread Halliday’s theory into China, which gradually attracted the attention of other scholars。 In 2002, her book Interpersonal Meaning in Discourse was published。 In this book, she comes up with three dimensions of interpersonal function: evaluative, interactive and epistemic。 Apart from Li Zhanzi, other linguists have further developed the theory。 Zhu Yongsheng (2001) points out that interpersonal meaning can be realized by vocative, personal pronouns and words, making a significant breakthrough in this field。 Yan Shiqing (2001) points out that interpersonal meaning can be realized by resources like personal pronouns and address form。 Other experts like Zhang Delu, Miao Xingwei have also made great contributions to the theory。

In the past few decades, many scholars and experts have made great achievements on business correspondences。 Both western linguists and scholars from China have devoted themselves to the studies of business correspondences。

2。2。1 Previous Study on Conflictive Business Correspondences Abroad

Business English is of great importance to domestic and international business transactions, which has a high value of research。 Business letters have been a broad field of linguistic research。 Maier (1992) opens an inquiry into the politeness strategies in business letters written by native and non-native speakers。 Many scholars only adopt Halliday’s or Martin’s theory。 However, Michael (1996) studies the interpersonal meanings of relative reply letters by combining the two scholar’s theories。 来,自.优;尔:论[文|网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-

2。2。2 Previous Study on Business Correspondences in China

At home, many Chinese scholars have devoted themselves to the study of business correspondences。 Yeung (1997) inquires into politeness requests in Chinese and English correspondences。 By analyzing the conflictive letters, she finds there are some affinities and persities between Chinese conflictive correspondences and English conflictive letters。 Apart from politeness strategies, linguists also pay attention to genre analysis。 Huang Shuiqi points out that writing business correspondences should be related to the principle of delivering information (Luo, 2014: 25)。
