The learning motivation of adults is closely related to their lives experience, but the students lack the experience。 So, there is a difference in their learning motivation。 What are the factors that affect students’ motivation of learning a foreign language? Why some students have a clear goal and motivation of learning, and why some students don’t have? Therefore, teachers should take measures to cultivate and enhance the students’ motivation of learning a foreign language。 

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the problems of students in primary school during their English learning process, identify the factors that affect the students’ learning motivation and take effective measures to solve them。 Finally, the paper takes effective measures to solve the problems in order to achieve the goal of stimulating students’ English-learning motivation。

Chapter Two Literature review

2。1 Definition of English-learning motivation in primary school 

Motivation plays a vital role in the successful completion of an educational learning task。 There is a large amount of research recording how knowledge and experience are dynamically connected with motivation。 What is the definition of the learning motivation? There is little agreement among experts on its exact meaning, though the term ‘motivation’ has been used in educational contexts。 It is a complex concept and researchers have explored it from many different angles。 According to Gardner and Maclntyre (1993), motivation consists of three aspects: ‘desire to achieve a goal, efforts extended in this direction, and satisfaction with the task’。 However DÖrnyei stated that ‘Motivation explains why people decide to do something, how hard they are going to pursue it and how long they are willing to sustain the activity’。 (DÖrnyei, 2001) 文献综述

Different experts have different views on English-learning motivation。 However, there is an optimal level of motivation in all kinds of learning activities, which is not always fixed。 In a word, the stronger a learner’s learning motivation is, the higher his enthusiasm for the activity is。 This paper focuses on analyzing the problems existing in the process of pupils’ English learning and the factors affecting their English-learning motivation, and then concludes the strategies of stimulating pupils’ English-learning motivation。 

Generally speaking, motivation can be related to a dynamic mental process。 The significance of motivation, on foreign language acquisition, is widely accepted by researchers。 Motivation plays an irreplaceable role in the process of foreign language learning。 

2。2 Necessity of cultivating students’ learning motivation in primary school

The learning motivation is an internal process that causes inpidual learning activities and enables it to continue。 Primary school English new curriculum standard pointed out that the tasks of English Curriculum in basic education stage as follow: stimulating and cultivating the interest of learning English is to help students establish self-confidence, develop good learning habits, form effective learning strategies, and develop the autonomous learning ability and cooperative spirit。 (Ministry of Education, 2012) Pupils’ interest in learning English plays an important role in improving the learning motivation。 The cultivation of interest in English learning and the stimulation of motivation are the primary teaching tasks of primary school English teachers。 The language environment is a very important factor for learners。 来,自,优.尔:论;文*网www.youerw.com +QQ752018766-

The classroom is the only place where local students are able to contact English。 Once they leave the classroom, the students generally do not take the initiative to use English in daily communication。 Therefore, even if the students learn how to make simple daily communication in the classroom, they also can not pay enough attention to English because they lack English communication environment in normal life。 At the same time, many parents do not speak English, and also do not understand the importance of learning English。 They rarely subscribe to English newspapers, magazines or other English reference books which are suitable for students to read。 As 激发小学生英语学习动机的策略(3):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_87459.html
