1。1 Background of the study

Each normal college student has a dual identity。 Compared with ordinary college students, they are clearly career-oriented pre-service teachers, who will be engaged in basic education and teaching after graduation。 Compared with in-service teachers, they are only ordinary college students under the system of English teacher education lacking of practical teaching experience。 In order to strengthen the education and training of pre-service English teachers, the normal universities have established a relatively complete system of teaching practice, not only to help the pre-service English teachers with the combination of theory and practice, but also to effectively deepen their understanding and experience of teaching。 Therefore, the influence of teaching practice on career developments of pre-service teachers has become a focus of researchers。

During the internship experiences of my classmates and mine, we all have had some fundamental improvements in many aspects, so I want to do some analysis to find out the influence of teaching practice has on us re-service English teachers with the aid of some previous studies and the feedback from my classmates and myself。 Meanwhile, we all have found some problems not effective to us pre-service English teachers, so I also want to generalize summarize these problems existing in current system。

1。2 Significance of the study

Although there are many researches on teaching practice at home and abroad revealing the importance of teaching practice -----teaching practice is the beginning of pre-service teachers’ teaching career, giving them a chance to link their theoretical knowledge with practice for the first attempt, is the time for them to transit from the role being pre-English teachers to that of English teachers with a vital significance。 However, there still exist many phenomena of college students’ avoidance of internship due to various reasons such as the examination of postgraduates in the teaching practice organized by the majority of normal universities。 

    Based on the existing research, this paper discusses the influence of teaching practice on the professional developments of pre-service English teachers from different perspectives。 On the one hand, it helps pre-service English teachers understand the changes and effects of pre-service English teachers in teaching practice as well as the importance of investigating how pre-service English teachers change from students to English teachers。 On the other hand, it supervises normal universities to pay more attention to the teaching practice and provide better protection to the pre-service English teachers in all aspects in order to promote pre-service English teacher professional development。

2。 Literature Review

According to Encyclopedia of China, the definition of teaching practice is “a practical form for upperclassmen in secondary normal schools and higher normal college students to go to primary or secondary schools for some education and teaching professional training。 As an important part of teaching education, it is also a comprehensive practical course which combines theory with practice and aims to achieve the educational goals。 Through the teaching practice, students can better apply the knowledge to educational and teaching practice, so as to foster and temper the teaching ability of students who are to be engaged in education and meanwhile to explore and consolidate the professional thinking of students。 ”(Encyclopedia of China:Education 174)Thus, it can be seen that teaching practice is the only way for pre-service English teachers to be a professional English teacher。

2。2 Previous studies 

So far, many scholars at home and abroad have elaborated on the theoretical system and purposes of teaching practice systematically from different angles。 For example, in China, the book “Introduction to teaching practice” has finished the construction of the concept of teaching practice system from various aspects like the review of history of teaching practice, its meaning and role, the preparation of teaching practice, the teaching practice and interpersonal communication。 In this book, the authors puts forward the significance of teaching practice mainly in the following aspects: to consolidate and improve the professional thinking of normal university students; to cultivate the teaching ability of pre-service English teachers; to develop the ability of English teachers in normal school; to test the teaching quality of normal education。 In addition, in Cui’s monograph “teaching practice”, he built a theoretical system of teaching practice from the process of teaching practice, piding the content into four parts: internship preparation; trainee process; practice process; practice summary and educational research。 The purposes of teaching practice are: to master knowledge: testing and consolidating the original knowledge as well as accessing to new knowledge; to develop capacities: the development of basic education capacity, the development of the innovation ability; to cultivate ideological quality: cultivating a sense of responsibility, supporting a sense of discipline and professional ethics(Liu et al 15-22)。 教育实习对职前英语教师专业发展的影响(2):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_201957.html
