The anti-hero is not synonymous with “negative character”or “negative role”, who is far from noble in his daily life。 Superficially, anti-hero may be humble and petty, often has indifferent and angry attitudes towards society, politics, and morality, but he emphasizes the independence of oneself and the publicity of the nature, and has a strong sense of resistance to the external forces that control and repress himself。 The ant-heroes represent those who hold great hope for a better future and a new life。 In The Hunger Games, Katniss is not physically attractive, but is noble in her pursuit of saving the world。 For her extraordinary experience in her later life, Katniss is an anti-hero from head to foot。

2。2 Studies on the movie series

The Hunger Games series offer a wide range of critical perspectives with its great popularity。 Many critics study the films from the perspective of humanity。 Mann, A’s ariticle Sertion in Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games Series points out that figures in the trilogy show different sides of human nature under different scenarios but what finally can save the common people in troubled times is only the true, the good and the beautiful side。 Rachel E。 Dubrofsky & Emily D。 Ryalls’s The Hunger Games: Performing Notperforming to Authenticate Femininity and Whiteness summarizes that in the face of existence, everyone will be shaken by desire, which causes a strong emotional conflict and contradiction, and only love is the key factor to keep human nature and eliminate beastliness。 Yangliu, in her When Men Becomes Men’s Tributes thinks that The Hunger Games is a work with positive energy, which advovates the brilliance of human nature for Katniss chrishes her family bond and has deepest sympathy and goodness。

Some critics are inclined to analyze the films from different thematic analysis。 For example, Markgnin Gal’s A Literary Criticism of the Classical Themes and Allusions Found in The Hunger Games points out that this work is mainly about the reflection of contemporary feminist trends in the United States, in which the reproduction of feminist figures is fruitful。 Miller J’s Katniss and the Politics of Gender thinks that as an anarchist, Kettenis's behavior is mainly a challenge to patriarchy。

There are also critics focus on the symbolic and metaphorical research。 Nayar in her The growth of different: Space, Community and the Dissensual Bildungsroman in Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games analyses a large number of constant names of people and places and numbers carry rich cultural connotations with the metaphorical expression of the author's creation intention, such as “mackingjay” is the symbol of resistance and mockery to power, and the name of “Panem” comes from ancient Rome text “bread and circus”。

3。 The Analysis of Katniss’s Anti-hero Image

Katniss isn’t a traditional superhero for her humble birth with no superpower, but it is her physical and mental traits that build her unique female image—anti-hero image。 Katniss is a far cry from a noble person in her daily life ,she is very ordinary and not physically attractive, but is emotional strong and noble in her pursuit of saving the world。

3。1 Katniss’s physical traits

In Hollywood movies, most of females are beautiful, sexy and scantily clad in order to attract male audiences。 Like in the Marvel superhero movies, female hero like Natalia is an erogenous hot girl。 This section will clarify how Katniss transforms the traditional female physical image。

3。1。1 Katniss’s physical appearance文献综述

Traditional female body image is slim and thin, while Katniss looks a little fat but healthy。 Traditional American girls are blondes, while Katniss has wheat skin and black hair。 Compared to her mother and sister Prim’s long blond hair and blue eyes, the girl who lives in the “stitching zone” looks very mediocre。 Body image is a complicated aspect of the self-concept that concerns an inpidual’s perceptions and feelings about their body and physical appearance (Cash & Pruzinsky 153)。 For one thing, Katniss lives in a bad situation that separates her from exquisite life。 For another, Katniss doesn’t care about external substance but cares more about her family。 Katniss has a plain make-up, conservative clothes, and has a strong figure for long periods of work, with little visible female characteristics except for a long hair。 She neither relies on the beautiful and sexy appearance for men’s admire, nor relies on feminine weakness to pray for male protection。 电影《饥饿游戏》三部曲中女主人公的反英雄形象分析(3):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_201791.html
