1。2 Research Significance

Based on a lack of appropriate understanding and scarce in-class practice, the real benefit and inspiration that DiE can offer is not be fully discovered yet。 One thing needed to be explained is that DiE classes are not equal to endless rehearsal and role plays。 In fact, DiE will be effective for the class, as long as teachers use some drama skills and games as a part of language teaching。 The main points and features can be concluded into three subcategories。 The first one goes to interest-oriented teaching。 Winifred once pointed out in the book Stories to Dramatize that the reason why we should adopt drama as a teaching aid lay in its attractive enchantment。 Some teachers worries about the impossibility of changing the class to a theater, and they expressed that they have no idea what exactly to form as actors in a real theater。 But that is not the concern, what DiE really emphasizes is to arouse the interest of students, and then they will spontaneously be involved into learning。 Next, it holds true for general education。 One of the ultimate goals of education is to nurture the sound personality。 The skills and techniques of DiE offer an opportunity for self-expression, emotional integration, intelligence enlightenment, and that is the space exactly needed for the development of personality。 The third point is that the structured creative learning。 Ann Viola has brought up an idea that creative drama led by capable teachers, allow students to use improvisational performance to reproduce the whole process。 As the teaching approach of DiE highly matches with the student-centered principles of national curriculum criteria, its further development should be allowed with thorough and multidimensional studies and researches analysis。

    Through the investigation of DiE in empirical study and practical language class teaching in this research, it should help us to figure out how dramatic elements support a teacher’s role transition with expectations such as an effective learning process, the increase of student engagement, and active interactions in teacher-student relationship, etc。 Educators who wants to step out of “safe zone” of traditional teaching and attempt to adopt a new way to exercise his teaching skills need to explore “true-self” and “imaginery-self” during the drama-playing, and thus are able to start to relocate his role orientation in class。

According to National English Curriculum, our educational objective has reached a new level of all-around development, requiring reforms and reflections in school teaching techniques。 Correspondingly, English, now, as a unified curriculum of instrumentality and humanity, shoulders the missons of linguistic attainments and creativity training。 文献综述

1。3 The structure of the paper
