On October 9, 2009, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that Obama had won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". Obama accepted this award in Oslo, Norway on December 10, 2009, with "deep gratitude and great humility."
To sum up, before becoming president, Obama was a lawyer, a college professor, and a successful writer - his two memoirs have become best-sellers. The skills he needed to succeed in his previous jobs have also contributed to his success as a speechmaker.
As a lawyer, Obama learned how to make strong, convincing arguments. As a professor, he learned how to explain complex subjects in ways that helped students understand without boring them. As a writer, he learned how to use language to have a powerful impact on his audience. Obama doesn't go anywhere without his teleprompter. As a sympathizer, he cared what others cared. His personal appeal formed through the community and the sympathy for common people. People can see his concern for them through his eyes. Benevolence is the most apparent ethic appeal the author knows about president Obama. That’s the most important ethic a leader of a country should have. People can feel his love for those who are suffering and his passion to work for a brighter future for his people.
3  Keynote Address at the 2004 Domecratic National Convention
In 2004, President President Barack Obama a little known senator from Illinois delivered his keynote address that rocked the world. What is President Barack Obama doing? What communication practices have enabled him to move rapidly from obscurity, overcoming challenges that could have thwarted another candidate—his race, his youth, his “exotic” name to become one of the most important figures in the Democratic Party? What oratory skills account for his ability to bring such disparate segments of society together, “transcending” race, energizing millennial and inspiring newcomers—young and old to participate in the electoral process? How does Obama manage to break down so many barriers? How does he connect so well with listeners, moving them on both an emotional and intellectual level as he translates his vision into the impulse to act? What can leaders in all arenas—business, politics, law, nonprofit and academia learn from him?
