Abstract Animal Farm, written by George Orwell, is a classical political fable novel. It’s very popular in western countries but little known in eastern countries, especially strange to socialist countries. George Orwell’s Animal Farm is a product, masterly combined politics with literary techniques. In this novel, author portrays a superficially ridiculous world by using symbolism, irony , black humor and other rhetorical devices to lead readers to find out the portrait of the real world between the lines.37021
This thesis aims to analyze the writing style in Animal Farm. It is mainly pided into three parts. Chapter one mainly analyzes the symbolism and how the author uses it in the novel and what these symbols represent. Chapter two will focus on what is irony and how the author uses it in the story and for what intention. Chapter three will discuss what is black humor and the usage of black humor in the novel.
In Animal Farm, author satires the Russian Revolution by using symbolism, irony ,black humor, etc. It portrays us a utopian state under the control of some animals. At the end of this thesis, a conclusion will be drawn that the usage of symbolism, irony and black humor can help to deepen the theme.

摘要乔治•奥威尔的《动物庄园》是一部经典的政治寓言小说。这部小说在西方是非常著名的，但是在东方国家却鲜为人知，尤其是在社会主义国家中。乔治•奥威尔的《动物庄园》是一部巧妙地结合了政治性与文学手法的作品。在这部小说里，作者运用了象征主义手法、讽刺手法、黑色幽默手法以及其他的修辞手法描绘了一个表面上看起来很荒诞的世界，但从字里行间却能让读者发现真正世界的写照。

Analysis of Writing Style in Animal Farm
Introduction
George Orwell is one of the most important writers in British literature in the early 20th century and honored as the most influential political writers in the 20th century. George is known as political novelist owing to his life experiences. “He lives through the two World Wars, and participates in the Spanish Civil War. He witnesses the oppression of imperialism and fascism, so he hates the exploitation of monopoly capitalism”(Gross 59). At the same time, he also witnesses the Soviet totalitarianism and hates the Stalinist totalitarianism because Stalin exploits people in the name of revolution and distorts the truth of the communist programme. Orwell expresses his dissatisfaction and anger in the form of literature with keen insight and sharp writing style to record the world that he has lived.
